An unfair attack

THE EDITOR, Sir:

A THOROUGH check with the United Nations' web site reveals that the world consists of 191 independent countries. Of these, only about 80 provide information on crime in general, even less provide info on police killings.

How can we be number 1 in the world if over 100 countries do not even provide information on crime, much less police killings.

For Amnesty International to suggest we have the worst record in the world when they do not have the information for over 100 countries represents an unfair attack on Jamaica.

I once again ask for proof that we are the worst in terms of police killings amongst the world's 191 independent countries, at least proof that we are the worst amongst the 80 or so countries that do provide the information.

To the hardworking, honest policemen and policewomen who struggle to ensure that we all do not have to use private security services, do not despair, you are not the worst in the world.

I am etc.,

PETER MYERS
