Abusive husband is not supportive of his family

Dear Pastor,

I am the mother of three children, and I am married for over three years. But there is no peace in my life. My husband is not giving me anything. I am so sorry that I got married to him. I thought we got married for better, but it is not better at all.

I would like some grade two and grade three Mathematics and Reading books and clothes for the children. I am not working at this time, and I do not have anybody to help me take care of the children.

If there is any big man out there who is looking for a young lady to be his wife, he may contact you for my number and address. I don't need a boyfriend or a man friend

. I need a husband and a father for my children, someone who needs a good wife and one who would go to church because I love my church very much.

My husband beats me badly and his brother wanted to have sex with me and because I didn't do it, he put me out of the house. I have to rent a house. I don't have the money to pay the rent. A lot of men want me, but they only want sex and that cannot work at all. I am 30 years old.

Please pray for me. God bless you, Pastor. You are more than a pastor. You are the poor people's Prime Minister and the father of many poor people's children

D. Manchester`

Dear D,

Although your husband and you are separated, you are not yet divorced. Until you are divorced, I cannot encourage you to establish another intimate relationship. I understand what you have gone through with your husband. It was unfortunate that he beat you and you are not receiving any financial help. Life must be very difficult with you.

I believe that you are a good and upright young woman. Your brother-in-law should be ashamed of himself and his behaviour towards you. Why would he want to have sex with you, his brother's wife? The man is truly depraved.

You were thrown out of the house, but you left with your dignity. You don't have anything to be ashamed of. And the Good Lord will help you to support the children.

I hope that readers of this column will help you with the books and clothes for the children. If anybody is willing to help you with clothes, I will give them the ages of the children. To protect your identity I deleted that portion from your letter.

Pastor

She's in two minds about ending relationship

Dear Pastor,

I am 19 years old and having an affair with a married man. His wife is living in the United States of America - she was here recently. I called him and she asked him who I was, and he told her that I was his sister's friend. He had a picture of us on his dresser and she tore it up. They have a child together.

I am planning to go back to school, but I want to get out this relationship before it goes further. This man is really great to me. He gives me whatever I ask him for. Whenever I ask him anything about his wife, he gets vex or doesn't answer at all. He only said that she hurt him. One of my friends said I should leave him, but another said I should continue because he is the only support I have.

I really need your frank and honest opinions about my situation. Keep up your good work.

A., St. Mary

Dear A.,

This man is not telling you the whole truth. He is willing to help you, but he doesn't want you to ask him anything about his wife. Remember that they are still together.

When you called, he did not tell her the truth because he was afraid, but his wife is not foolish.

Get yourself a job and pay your own school fees. Get out of this relationship. Don't allow your friend to encourage you to continue with this man. If you fool around with him, you may find yourself pregnant.

Pastor

Friend lies about his age

Dear Pastor,

I am a christian and I love the Lord very much. I am always reading your column. I am seeking your fatherly advice.

I am 18 years of age. I met a guy and he told me that he was born on a certain day in a certain month, but it was not true.

This guy is the first guy I ever had sex with. He told me that he loves me, and I know he does. I found out that he gave me the wrong date of birth.

He said the reason he did not tell me to correct date of his birth was because he was afraid that I would have told him that he was too young for me.

He is still attending school and he is 17 years old. It was his friend who told me his correct age.

E., Kingston

Dear.,

Young men lie about their age all the time, especially when they are interested in older girls.

Older men do it too when they feel that the women they are interested in would tell them that they are too old.

Your 17- year-old friend has to learn to speak the truth. What can he now say to you that can make you believe him?

You say that you are a christian and you love the Lord. Seek to serve God. This guy may draw you away from serving Christ, so be careful what you do. -Pastor
