Suspected suicide victim found

FROME, Westmoreland:

A GROUP of boys on a fishing trip in Frome, Westmoreland, on Tuesday came upon the body of a man hanging from a tree.

The man, a labourer identified as Earl Brown, also known as 'Birdie', 26, was found hanging at about 11 a.m.

Reports from the Frome police are that Brown was last seen alive riding his bicycle in the direction of the canefields owned by the Frome Sugar Company at about 10 a.m. on that same day.

Brown's body was suspended by the neck with a piece of electric cable, which was tied on an old tree that had fallen across a stream.

The body was removed to the Savanna-la-Mar hospital.

Suicide is suspected and Detective Noel Laing of the Frome CIB is in charge of the investigations.

Brown, who is the father of a 2-year-old girl, was said to have been acting strangely up to the time of his death. Persons in the area said the deceased told his father that he was not going to live to see his little girl grow up, nor live past 27. Three week ago, his older brother died from a heart attack.
