JAMAICAN batsmen Leon Garrick and Wavell Hinds, along with Windward Islands fast bowler Nixon McLean, were yesterday axed by West Indies selectors' going into tomorrow's fifth match of their one-day international series against South Africa.
The fifth of seven matches is at Barbados' Kensington Oval. The West Indies won the opening encounter in Jamaica but were defeated in the last three matches by convincing margins.
With West Indies trailing 1-3, opening batsman Daren Ganga gets his first international opportunity since the tour of Australia in February.
The 22-year-old right-hander is joined by fellow Trinida-dian, leg-spinner Dinanath Ramnarine, who bowled impressively in taking 20 wickets in the preceding Test series which South Africa won 2-1.
The other newcomer is 23-year-old Barbadian fast bowler Corey Collymore, who returns to international duty for the first time since last summer's tour of England.
Garrick and McLean struggled in their two appearances while left-hander Hinds failed to make use of his one chance.
After Wednesday's action, the teams travel to Trinidad for the sixth match on Saturday while the series concludes in St. Vincent on May 16.
West Indies squad: Carl Hooper (captain), Chris Gayle, Daren Ganga, Brian Lara, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Ricardo Powell, Ridley Jacobs, Neil McGarrell, Mervyn Dillon, Corey Collymore, Cameron Cuffy, Dinanath Ramnarine, Kerry Jeremy, Marlon Samuels.
