Fresh, affordable produce

Magnus Taffe attending his produce in the Spanish Town market. - contributed

ONE cannot help but admire the produce Magnus Taffe sells in the Spanish Town Market. They are not only fresh but affordable as well. Magnus, who lives in Spanish Town, often boasts about being able to attract buyers.

"My foodstuff is fresh from the farm. You can see the quality. Just look at these dry yellow yams and Irish potatoes," he said.

Magnus looked towards his tomatoes, cabbages and pumpkins.

"I try my best to please my customers because they want the best. If not, they will buy from someone else."

Magnus has been selling at the Spanish Town Market for the past seven years, mainly Mondays to Saturdays and he has few regrets.

"I am trying to make a money out of this business 'cause it rough out there. Everyone is selling these days."

He added, "I love what I am doing 'cause I am not a lazy person. I get up early in the morning, journey to Coronation Market and get back home to start sell by six in the morning."

Getting these goods from Coronation Market to Spanish Town is not hard.

"I have a reliable transport that pick me up and take me back," Magnus said.

The best season for selling foodstuff is during the Christmas holidays, when people usually spend extra on food.

"It's also when relatives come from abroad so yu have more mouths to feed," he added.

He also feels the Government could help in making life easier for higglers.

"Well, if more people a work they will have money to buy food and we would have more to make for our families."

Magnus lives with his girlfriend and they have two children.
