WICB to take plan to the region

ST JOHN'S, Antigua, CANA

WEST Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Chief Executive Officer, Gregory Shillingford and Management Consultant to the Board, Teddy Griffith, will begin a series of presentations of the WICB's strategic plan to its territorial boards this weekend.

Shillingford reported that the Board had approved the process of sharing the plan with all the stakeholders of West Indies cricket so that there could be a full understanding, discussion and acceptance of the plan.

The Plan presents a general road map of the path that will be pursued in promoting, developing and organizing West Indies Cricket.

"Although the plan has been approved by the Board which is representative of the various territorial bodies, we felt that dialogue with the all the members of the respective boards was critical to its successftion," Shillingford said.

The plan was developed through a process of consultation with a wide cross-section of stakeholders in West Indies cricket.

Apart from representatives of the various boards, there was participation by current players, past players, umpires, journalists and others in a two-day session facilitated by Griffith in Antigua last November 2000.

The WICB team will begin meetings on the strategic plan from May 19 with the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board of Control in Trinidad, followed by the Guyana Cricket Board in Georgetown.

Meetings will also be held with the Windward Islands Cricket Board of Control and the Barbados Cricket Association in Bridgetown, the Leeward Islands Cricket Association in St John's, Antigua and in Kingston with the Jamaica Cricket Association.

The WICB will also share the plan with all participants of the November 2000 workshop, the Governments and the media.

Following the initial consultations, all stakeholders will be able to access the plan through the WICB website www.windiescricket.com.
