A self-hate mentality

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I WAS most pleased to see your article in the Gleaner of May 28 about a pastor who was building a community centre in the slums of downtown Kingston. It seems to me that we are always highlighting cases involving foreigners who help Jamaicans, but hardly when Jamaicans help Jamaicans.

I remember a story of an American boy helping Jamaican students, but the writer did not mention the fact that many Jamaicans will be contributing to the project. I do not care anyway, as I realise that it is only a part of our self-hate mentality.

I am etc.,
