Platinum in front

MANDEVILLE -

SIZZLING strikes in either half by Dwight Young in the 11th minute and Paul Wright, 86th, gave the previously unfancied Platinum a 2-0 win over the favourites Traxx to give them the decisive advantage in their Black Brothers sponsored Super League first-leg final at the Brancourt Sports Facility at Clarendon Park yesterday.

This latest win by Platinum, which is coached by Patrick Whittaker, father of the National Under-20 custodian Allien, continued their dream season run, which has also included toppling Premier League side Hazard 3-2 in the semi-finals.

Their win yesterday is significant as it came against the preliminary round and mid-season winners, who had the former assistant National Coach Kenneth "Bob" Campbell, giving instructions from the sidelines. But Platinum's confidence was evident from the very first minute, when their kick-off produced a turnover of eight consecutive passes, which provided them with the first scoring opportunity of the game.
