Correction and Clarification: Today's star entertainment story made mention of Beres Hammond's performance at Reggae Adventure, Mas Camp, last Saturday night. Mr. Hammond was in fact not at the show. Capleton
IF anyone came expecting the "Fire Man", Capleton, to 'burn down' Reggae Adventure at Mas Camp on Saturday night they must have been disappointed.
It never happened.
The night belonged to artistes such as Glen Washington, Admiral Tibet and Gregory Isaacs.
Clad in a white outfit, Glen Washington delivered hits like Jah Glory, Stranger In The Night, One of These Days, Kindness for Weakness and Jah Won't Let Me Down.
He was cool and calm for most of his act, but the audience was going wild.
"Go there Glen. A big singer that," one fan shouted during a pause.
The audience was transformed into a choir singing line after line like professionals.
Bongo Herman was 'pure excitement'. His congo drum and other instruments carried the audience through various emotions.
Admiral Tibet, who has not performed in Kingston for almost 13 years, made up for his past absences from the stage. He scored with all of his songs including Time So Serious, Gone Crazy, Leave People Business Alone and Babylon War.
"I feel so good, a feel really good. I wasn't really expecting this from people and to think that I never got a number one song in Jamaica," Tibet said after his performance.
George Nooks, the promoter of the show, appeared on-stage early. He kept his fans rocking with most songs but when he performed God Is Standing By the crowd response was awesome. People waved, screamed and sang.
Luciano delivered a commendable performance while Beres Hammond, Gregory Isaacs and Barrington Levy pleased as usual. Freddie McGregor's tribute to Dennis Brown, Love And Hate was fitting.
It was not one of Leroy Sibbles' best performances but Louie Culture, Coco T and early act Warrior King all delivered great performances.
Capleton scored well with early songs but later faded. A few fans tried to warm up the "Fire Man" by setting fire to refuse dumped on the ground, but this never worked.
Several fans were shaken by the Fire Man's loss of heat. "The Fire Man never really hot" and "Mi expect better from him", were a few comments heard after the show.
