JTB, Air J and advertising

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I HAVE never read a more insultive, condescending and rude letter as I did this morning when I read Butch Stewart's response to Mr. Pringle. Why is it that Butch Stewart can never just respond to facts and he always has to hit below the belt to detract from the matter at hand.

In his defence Mr. Stewart says that the JTB spent $1.5 million dollars on Air Jamaica advertising and that Air Jamaica and Air Jamaica Vacations spent $12 million so to say that one-half the JTB advertising was with Air Jamaica is "disingenuous".

Mr. Stewart it may not have been one-half of your advertising budget but it WAS more than half the JTB budget.

Is this truly the best spend of Jamaica's advertising dollar?

We need to get more bang for our buck and stretch what we have and I truly believe that we Jamaicans are not going to see more tourists if we continue to spend such a large percentage of what little we have on advertising our national airline.

I am etc.,

BEVERLY MULLINGS
