On My Mind - Where are all the good men?

By Fiona Miller, Contributor

HMMM....I'D say they are either in prison, gay, on drugs or already dead.

Then on the other hand, the good ones are already taken, whether married or in committed relationships.

It would be unethical for me to neglect to mention the set who we all hate to love -- the players who have got so much game. They are the ones with whom most of us are familiar. (Women are you agreeing with me)? They are characterised by a cute face, brand name clothes, a fancy car and oozing charm.

Some of their usual lines are: "Baby you're the only one" or "She's just a friend" or "It wasn't me." Sounds familiar?

What about the ones who promise to love you forever until they hear the words, "Honey I'm pregnant," then they evaporate before your very eyes.

Then there are the ones in church, but I won't even go there because some of them have their eyes on more than just the Lord.

The next set is perhaps the most annoying. We encounter them on the streets every day. They either attempt to touch you or utter lewd comments like, "Baby you fat eeh?" or "Sexy body gal" or worse yet, "me woulda%@## now." It's enough to make you want to run and hide.

The millennium men with their 2000 and beyond mentality are simply unbelievable. This set believes that women should support them. They expect expensive colognes, outfits, cooked meals and weekends at SuperClubs.

Forget about men who open doors and the practice of "ladies before gentlemen". Women under 30 like myself only hear about those things from older women who have had the pleasure of the experience.

Whoever said that good men are hard to find sure knew what she was talking about. If she's still alive, what does she think now?

What's on your mind? Tell us and we'll publish it in this space we've created especially for you. It could be a quirky observation or a serious note, we only ask that you keep it to about 350 words (include a recent photograph and a phone number or an address). We also welcome your letters.
