Royal treatment for the elderly

MANDEVILLE, Manchester:

THE PANORAMIC view and beautiful surroundings can be misleading, giving visitors the impression they are entering the grounds of an aristocrat.

When you enter the gates of Viv's Exclusive Rest Home for the elderly in New Port, you get that classy feeling.

Located less than half mile from the town square the home with all the desired amenities including a bathroom with hot and cold water in each of its rooms can hardly be called ordinary.

According to its managing director, Vivienne Mowatt, the name of the home appropriately reflects the care given to each of its residents.

With 28 years of health experience behind her, Mrs. Mowatt opened the doors to Viv's Exclusive Rest Home in 1998 offering full convalescent care for the elderly, with sixteen presently residing at the home.

Housed in a well maintained two story building with features fit for a queen or king, the rooms overlook a swimming pool with a breathtaking view of the south coast and its environs. The tranquility of the natural surroundings adds a touch of serenity to the lives of those who live in the area as well as the home.

Mrs. Mowatt says her efforts to see that the best possible care is given to each resident is driven by the less than favourable experience her father had in a rest home in Kingston some time ago.

With a staff complement of 10, including four nurses, the home meets all the requirements of the Ministry of Health and the Manchester Parish Council and has a doctor on call as part of its professional staff.

Although the home is considered to be the best in the island, Mrs. Mowatt and staff remain committed to finding new ways to improve its services to the elderly.
