Setting the record straight

THE EDITOR, Sir:

YOUR REPORT headlined "Narcops investigate ackee exporter" appearing in Saturday's Gleaner contained the following inaccuracies :

"(1)The third-named accused is Michael Rodney (not Reynolds) and this writer, Michael Clarke, appeared as 'amicus curiae' on his behalf. (to that extent he was represented).

"(2)Applications for bail were to Her Honour Ms. Valerie Stephens (not Her Honour Ms. Paulette Williams).

"(3) The matter is listed for mention on Wednesday, 27th instant (not Thursday).

"(4) Messrs. Channer and Rodney are not employees of Dr. Hamilton, and no one (whether for the prosecution for the defence) has so asserted. Rather Mr. Channer is an independent contractor whose truck and services are hired for removal, etc. by members of the public; Rodney is one of Mr. Channer's helpers - sideman on the three-ton truck owned and operated by Channer."

I am etc.,

MICHAEL CLARKE
