Jamaica -- a death factory

THE EDITOR, Sir:

JAMAICA HAS seemingly gone mad. Murder has become the order of the day. Port Royal was once said to be the wickedest city on earth. I am of the view that Kingston is well deserving of this title today.

Jamaica has become a death factory whose output has been booming for many years. Blood, blood and more blood continues to stain the reputation of this once peaceful nation. Human life in the Jamaican context has become severely cheap. Death, death and more death continues to haunt Jamaica.

The politicians alone cannot solve this problem. Nor can the police, the private sector, the Church acting alone. This problem is bigger than all the above entities combined. Drastic measures now need to be implemented in order to solve this problem. Poor Jamaica.

I am etc,

PATRICK A. GALLIMORE
