HOMICIDE DETECTIVES from the St. Andrew North Division are probing the circumstances surrounding the death of an elderly man whose body was discovered in the Mannings Hill Road gully yesterday afternoon.
Forensic experts who visited the scene and conducted investigations, said there were no signs of physical injuries. The deceased who is said to be about 75 years old, was clad in a yellow and blue shirt, a pair of black jeans and black sandals.
His body was discovered by a passer-by who saw it in a pool of blood, lying in the gully which runs parallel to Merrivale Avenue, off Mannings Hill Road and who then alerted the lawmen.
St. Andrew North is of one three divisions where the Government recently launched pilot projects to reduce the level of crime, following recommendations made by the US-based Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) team.
Since the launch of the project in St. Andrew North on June 1, there has been four reported cases of murder between that time and up to yesterday.
Following investigations by homicide detectives four men have been charged in connection with the gun slaying of Barrington Williams who was killed on June 1 about 5:00 p.m. at Parkes Lane.
They are also said to be close to making an arrest in the case of Derrick Lee, alias "Red Dread" who was shot and killed on Barbican Road, June 17.
