Letter of the Day - Women politicians as agents of change

THE EDITOR, Sir:

LAST WEEKEND 40 female aspirants met for the annual training workshop put on by the Jamaica Women's Political Caucus and the Institute for Public Leadership. As I understand it, the focus of the workshop is to train women who plan to run for office in the upcoming elections. The aim was to help them to look at practising a different type of politics designed to bring about revolutionary change in Jamaica.

This move is commendable and I congratulate the organisers and hope that these brave women will strive to be the change agents that our country so badly needs.

Our women seem to be our last resort as the male politicians have failed us miserably. They have taken the country to a state of hopelessness, fear, hatred, and disregard for the superior being, God.

Despite all that has gone, or has been allowed to go on, I believe that there is still time for Jamaicans to take back the country from the three parties.

Who among us can make a difference?

I am etc.,
