Marksman will be stronger, more competitive

Campbell

The merger between local security companies Marksman Limited and Dual Security, under the new name of Marksman Limited, both members of the Guardsman Group of Companies, will bring to the security sector, a new level of professionalism, according to managing director-designate of Marksman, Major Philip Campbell.

"The merger will create greater management depth, efficiency, experienced, and a more client specific approach to security," Major Campbell said. "The merger makes the new Marksman even stronger and competitive than it ever was."

The merger will see close to 2000 contract security guards coming under the umbrella of the new Marksman, with an islandwide network of outstations. Major Campbell also pointed out that the merger brings added economies of scale to the table, and eliminates unnecessary resource.

"Our size and numbers will give the new company the flexibility to take on new contracts, and become more wholistic in our approach to industrial security," Major Campbell reiterated. "The merger also makes us more efficient in that many parallel items can now be eliminated and we can focus our efforts on maintaining one main base of operations, one group of guards, one fleet of vehicles, one management team, and so on."

The headquarters for the new Marksman will be at 14-16 Balmoral Avenue (the former address of Dual). "We intend to be the primary choice for consumers when need for industrial security arises," Major Campbell stressed. "This will come not only because our guards are the best trained and best equipped, but because our guards are versatile and flexible, and can adapt to perform a variety of functions."

Major Campbell said that the versatility of the company's guards was key to ensuring that client specific needs were met.

Staff, he went on, were excited about the merger. "They (the staff) are all eagerly anticipating the merger," he explained. "They are all excited about being part of a larger entity, and are aware that in a larger company, there will be greater room for upward mobility."

He said that in the wake of the merger, there had been minimal dislocation among staff, with two ancillary posts and one staff position being the only ones made redundant.

According to the managing director-designate, the merger would allow the company to place more emphasis on cost-effective re-training and updating of the skills of its personnel, as well as continuing the round-the-clock service that had come to be standard in this industry.

"Security practices will always need to be updated," Major Campbell said. "As the needs of the client become more diverse, so must our training methods. And as always, we will continue to be a 24-7 operation, not just from security guard standpoint, but from a supervisory and management standpoint as well."
