P.O. box rates up again!

IT HAS become fashionable in recent years for Government to just slip-in a little more tax to the already well-beaten consuming public. Blossom O'Mealy Nelson, no sooner become the new Postmaster General started to create her own waves in petty taxes. While nobody is against the postal rate increases, somebody ought to speak out about the incessant increase in Post Office Box rates.

And Madam Postmaster General ought to know that if I rent a room and my landlord decides to increase the rent, that increase starts at the beginning of my next due date. In like manner, if I rent a PO Box for a period of one year and paid my 'rent' in full, I shouldn't be called upon to cough up extra money for the same rent. In lay terms, it is called 'highway robbery'; and if the Postal Service is efficient at all, one wouldn't need a Box Number in the first place.

As for the new parcel rates of $150 per kg, Madam Postmaster had better go do her homework and re-calculate. If I can send a ten pound (4.5 kg)parcel to anywhere in Jamaica for $300 using TARA Courier or Air-Pak Express, with reliable service guaranteed, what makes her think that I would ever use her Postal Service. We all have to tighten our belts in this economic rampage and consumers are constantly looking for quality at a bargain.
