THE DEATH toll from the violence that gripped West Kingston from Saturday morning to Tuesday is 25, according to checks at the morgue and the Kingston Public Hospital.
A total of 21 residents of the area were picked up dead at various locations in the community, a soldier and a police corporal shot dead there, and two district constables were slain at roadblocks far afield but set up in solidarity with protests in the troubled area.
The names of the community dead were not available yesterday.
The dead soldier is Lance Corporal Kevin Lawrence and the policemen are Corporal Mark Henry, District Constable Colin Thomas, 33, of the Rockfort Police Station, East Kingston, who perished after his car was shot up then set afire with him in it, on Mountain View Avenue, East Kingston, on Monday, while he was on the way to work before dawn; and District Constable Errol Stephenson of the Rio Bueno Police Station, Trelawny, who died after he was hit in the head while clearing a roadblock there.
Edward Seaga, MP for Western Kingston for the last 39 years, and leader of the opposition Jamaica Labour Party, said the number of people killed in his constituency since Saturday morning totalled 20.
He documented the fatalities thus:

3. An old man in the lane facing the 'CMU's Command Centre' at Darling St.
4. Handcart man at Coronation Market and Spanish Town Road.
5. A man (known as a 'Rumhead') on Bond St. with a bag of groceries he purchased on Sunday.
6. An unidentified man at Pink Lane and Spanish Town Rd.
7 and8. Two unidentified men at Blount St. and Bond St.
9. An old man, shot in the back, at Regent St. and Spanish Town Rd.
10. A 20-year-old girl, shot between the eyes, at Regent St. and North St.
