WI U19s beat T&T

Parchment scored 44.

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CANA:

THE WEST Indies Under-19 team, led by a fighting half-century from all-rounder Omari Banks, registered an 18-run victory over Trinidad and Tobago's U19s in a friendly 40 over encounter at Pierre Road Recreation Ground on Tuesday.

Batting first, the regional youngsters tallied 175 for five from their 40 overs, and T&T replied with 157 all out in 38 overs.

Skipper Brenton Parchment supported Banks (51) with a fluent 44, while West Indies Under-15 all-rounder Ravindranath Rampaul was the best bowler for the local team with figures of two for 24 from eight overs.

In the T&T reply, Dwayne Bravo scored 32 and captain Alan Mahabir 30. Ryan Austin grabbed two for 28 for the West Indies.

The West Indies will leave next Tuesday for a six-week tour of England, while Trinidad and Tobago will take part in next month's West Indies Youth tournament in Guyana.

Another game is scheduled for today at the same venue.
