The Church is at work

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I MUST applaud the benevolent gesture shown by Bishop Herro Blair, and the Church, to the residents of Western Kingston, during the recent unrest. This is an indication that the Church is working. This expression of care unfolds the 'Christ-like' characteristic of the Church. Christ merged missions and evangelism during His ministry on earth.

The Church is an institution with responsibilities.

Based on the social nature and apparent influence of the Church, I would like to suggest that the Church be recognised, like the political parties and business sector, as a significant element in the 'integrated force' necessary to bring about socio-economic changes in the society.

I am, etc.,

CANUTE WHITE
