By Stanford Scott, Freelance Writer

ST. MARY:

THIRTY-THREE-YEAR-OLD LEROY McKoy from the Richmond Farm Prison, was sentenced to one year in prison for unlawful wounding when he appeared in the Richmond Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, July 18.

According to police reports, 30-year-old Kenneth Simms another inmate at the same prison, was preparing breakfast when Mr. McKoy entered the kitchen demanding to use a pipe which is out of bounds to the inmate. An argument developed between both men. McKoy grabbed a piece of steel which he used to hit Simms across his back.

It was reported that McKoy went outside and returned with a piece of broken bottle which he used to stab Simms several times in his head. He was rescued by the warders. In handing down sentence Resident Magistrate Sonia Burton Linton asked McKoy why he failed to behave himself and stay out of trouble. In his reply he said he was sorry for his deviant behaviour. McKoy is currently serving a two year sentence for a similar offence.
