THE OCHO Rios business community is excited about the upcoming Gleaner/Photo Ex-press photo exposé, where some 35 photographers will capture on camera activities as they unfold within a 24-hour period in the resort town.
"We are excited about this project as we think it will be very good for the town of Ocho Rios," explained Andrew Grant, acting president of the St. Ann Chamber of Commerce. "We applaud the Gleaner Company for selecting our area to launch what I understand is a pilot programme to get their community projects under way. We are really looking forward to this Saturday."
Executive vice- president of SuperClubs, Joe Issa, is also thrilled. According to him, "pictures tell a thousand words" and that it is an opportunity for the rest of the island to get an up-close and personal view of what he called "this real fascinating town."
"I am not sure if something like this has ever been done before," he said.
Photographers from Ocho Rios and Montego Bay participating in the project, met on Saturday for a briefing. The photographers too are excited about the event.
"This is a photographer's dream," explained Michael Saab, who will be coming from Montego Bay.
"Simply wonderful," added Ocho Rios photographer, Ron Vester.
"We are really grateful for this opportunity."
Kingston photographers will meet today at 10:00 a.m. at The Gleaner offices at North Street.
