Whitmore ... safe at HullJAMAICA'S midfield maestro Theodore "Tappa" Whitmore is no longer on the transfer list of English Division Three Club Hull City, according to a report on the club's web site yesterday which stated "we're happy for you to stay!".
"The dramatic U-turn", the report said, has come just three months after the Tigers were prepared to off-load the player on a free transfer following a difficult campaign.
However, Whitmore has made a big impact in City's pre-season build-up and probably clinched his stay of execution with a dazzling two-goal display in the friendly win against top Scottish side Kilmarnock last week.
"It's my recommendation that Theo stays with us. Obviously, it was my recommendation in the first place that we should let him go but that was based on the strength of 19 games last season where he didn't really feature," said Hull's manager Brian Little.
At the end of last season, Theo was one of several players handed free transfers and City would happily have off-loaded one of their highest paid players.
Now, the Tigers have had a re-think following Whitmore's recent form and behind-the-scenes talks between Little and chairman Adam Pearson. Pearson said: "I'm more than happy to back Brian on this and as far as I'm concerned, Theo has been taken off the list and is not available for sale."
