No war of words with Rousseau - Hall

Hall... had 'cordial' meeting with Rousseau.

WICB president Reverend Wes Hall says he won't be engaging in a war of words in the press with the former president Pat Rousseau over the Merrill Lynch investment issue. This comment came in the wake of the latest of several statements from Rousseau on the investment.

Hall, in a release, said the board had investigated the Merrill Lynch issue and made decisions based on the findings of the Enoch Lewis Committee with the advice of the board's legal counsel.

He said the board was unanimous in its decisions on the matter and had given full disclosure of its findings, conclusions and decisions in two press statements.

"Since the board and our legal advisors are satisfied that the matter is being fully addressed, it can not help West Indies cricket for me engage in a war of words in the press with Mr Rousseau or anyone else on this issue," Hall said.

"I must move on to focus on the important work to be done as I begin the task of uniting all West Indians behind one common goal and laying the foundation for the sustainable development of West Indies Cricket as a centre of global excellence," he said.

"I appeal to all West Indians, from the devoted fan to the most talented Test cricketer - let us dedicate every ounce of our effort, energy and intellect to supporting our cricket and helping to make the West Indies team once more the best in the world. I need your help."

Hall said that as part of the transfer of leadership he had held a lengthy and very cordial meeting with Rousseau in Jamaica, which provided him with useful information on a number of issues of importance to the development of West Indies cricket.
