Street children programme is praiseworthy

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I WISH to commend the Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Percival James Patterson for the number of initiatives which he has undertaken to improve the lot of the poor since he has become the Prime Minister.

Today, I heartily congratulate him for his forethought in going out to address the needs of the Street Children. I see this as one of his best projects as it incorporates the use of the army personnel which I hope will give some sense of discipline and instil self-worth to these children. I also laud the use of the HEART programme to teach them a skill to make them employable.

May the private sector now do its part in offering gainful employment to these street children when they will have come to the point where they will be able to enter the job market.

I am, etc.,

STELLA M. WILKINS (Mrs.)
