Chantal veering

Storm precautions went into high gear yesterday as Jamaicans kept a watchful eye on the progress of Tropical Storm Chantal which raced westward across the Caribbean Sea, threatening the island, but later veering south.

Mixed reactions to storm's approach
There were mixed reactions yesterday in the Corporate Area to a warning about Tropical Storm Chantal which at one point strengthened to become a hurricane threatening to graze Jamaica.

Schools to teach human rights
Human rights are to be taught in schools next term when the new academic year begins, to help students understand better their rights as citizens.

Boards balk at disclosure
Members of some school boards are concerned that they will be required to reveal their assets under the Corruption Prevention Act, and have asked the Ministry of Education for clarification.
