Ganja makes you stupid, careless, lazy

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I KNEW it was coming, but I hoped against hope that it would not happen. But why should I care if any hope of our children making anything of themselves is now quite dead? Why care if we become a nation of idiots as well as being poor? And believe me, we will stay poor, because the few extra tourist dollars that the legalisation of this drug might temporarily bring here, are not going into the pockets of those who need and deserve it.

Ganja makes you stupid, careless, lazy and totally destroys any feelings of responsibility or personal obligation to yourself or anyone else. That is a fact and we all know it. But who cares? The ignorant and poor population of this country is once more taken for a ride on the donkey cart. And at the end of this ride, the donkey will be dead, and the big shot will be gone in his F150.

So now everyone will be planting ganja in large quantities 'for private personal use', and selling ganja 'for private personal use', and all the children will scramble their brains smoking ganja 'for private personal use' and Jamaica will stink and be shunned by other countries who know better, 'for private personal use'. What a load of hogwash!

Poor, poor Jamaica. What a ghastly disgrace, and what a catastrophe for our helpless young people who are already at risk enough.

I am, etc.,
