In search of the Machado legacy THE EDITOR, Sir: I SAW your article which mentioned restoration of the Machado Tobacco building. I am a lawyer in Denver, Colorado who has been trying to locate an address, physical or e-mail for the Machado Tobacco Company. I have a client who was left certain property via a will and there is an old stock certificate for the B and J.B. Machado Tobacco Company. I am trying to find out whether these stocks are still good and in fact whether the company still exists. The shares may still have some value to the Jamaican Historical Society if the company is defunct given the importance of the Machado Tobacco Company in Jamaican history.
