TWENTY-FIVE MEMBERS of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JFC), including four women, are among the candidates being considered for the 2001 Lasco Top Cop Award.
The candidates are all divisional winners, interviewed and selected from among others in the respective divisions. On Tuesday the divisional winners were honoured at a function held at the Golf View Hotel in Mandeville, Manchester.
Among the four women who have made this year's contest more competitive are Sergeant Sonia James, a 12-year veteran of the JCF, who is assigned to the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN). Corporal Nadine Grant-Brown, Westmoreland Division, Constable Olivette McKenzie-Jackson, Trelawny, and Constable Carla Bucknor, Kingston Central.
The selection process will continue in November when the eight Area level winners will be chosen. The Top Cop will then be selected from the eight.
Other divisional winners were Det. Sgt. Edgar Brown (St. Ann), Con. Wickham Campbell (Kingston Eastern), Sgt. Renford Chambers (Manchester), Cpl. Leighton Gray (St. Catherine North), Inspector Gary Flash (Portland), Sgt. Donald Francis (Mobile Reserve - Company 2), Cpl. Gary Francis (Motorised Patrol).
Inspector Ivan Hylton (St. James), Con. Jethro Jackson (Mobile Reserve Company 3), Con. Rohan Howard James (Kingston Western), Con. D.A. Lee (St. Andrew South), Det. Sgt. Colin McKenzie (Clarendon), Sgt. D.D. Powell (St. Mary), Sgt. Clyde Ramsay (St. Elizabeth), Cpl. Desmond Roach (St. Thomas), Sgt. Walton Shaw (Hanover), Sgt. Gregory Silvera (St. Catherine South), Sgt. Alton Spencer (St. Andrew South), Sgt. Warren Douglas Turner (Mobile Reserve Company 1), Sgt. Neville K. Williams (St. Andrew Central).
