Forbes transfers senior cops

Forbes

COMMISSIONER OF Police Francis Forbes has transferred several of his Commanding Officers including two Superintendents to the Inspection Branch.

Among the other senior officers who have been transfered are Assistant Commissioner Jevene Bent from Area 5 to the Commissioner's Office. She will be understudying Deputy Commissioner in charge of Administration, Sidney Brooks.

Assistant Commissioner Jasper Jones has been recalled from Services Division to be in charge of Area 5. Superintendent Leon Rose from Kingston Eastern will replace Superintendent Wade, while Superintendent C.A. Blake will take over from Superintendent Daley.

Superintendents Kenneth Wade of the Constant Spring Police Station, St. Andrew North, and Harry Daley of the Spanish Town Police Station, St. Catherine North, have been transferrred to the Inspection Branch which was dubbed "Never Never Division" under the previous Commissioner of Police, Colonel Trevor MacMillan.

It is said that officers transferred to that division, now located at the old Ministry of National Security building on Ocean Boulevard in downtown Kingston, have little scope for promotion.

In 1993 several policemen who were transfered there, resigned out of frustration, while some took then Commissioner of Police, Colonel MacMillan to court.
