JAMAICA'S GSM mobile phone company Digicel recently welcomed Anbell Agencies to its network of islandwide dealers, as the company continues the expansion of its operations from an infrastructural as well as a customer-based standpoint.
Anbell brings to the Digicel family a network of eight locations, six Kingston-based including their flagship outlet on Knutsford Boulevard, and one each in Morant Bay and Port Antonio.
Anbell's managing director, Mr. Andrew Pairman, expects that his company's association with Digicel will contribute positively to the company's subscriber base, and expose Anbell's customers to the coverage and customer service and sales efficiency that have become trademarks of Digicel dealerships islandwide.
He also said that his company was excited to be a part of the mobile communications revolution in Jamaica, and in particular a part of the GSM (Global System for Mobiles) revolution. He was of the opinion that GSM, the platform which Digicel employs as the core of its network, and the platform to which more than 80 per cent of the world's total cellular market subscribes, is the way forward for mobile communications.
"Anbell is pleased, and indeed excited, to be a part of this new phase in Jamaica's telecommunications development," Mr. Pairman said. "In the last few months, because of competition in the field, we've seen developments in the area of mobile that we could never have imagined a few years ago.
"With the introduction of Digicel onto the scene the possibilities for the mobile consumer are enormous," he said.
Digicel is undertaking expansion of its already sophisticated network, with the addition of 20 cellular sites in the last four months since launch, and another 20 sites to be commissioned in the weeks to come.
