J'cans saddened by 'Attack on America'

THE EDITOR, Sir:

WE JOIN the vast majority of people in the world who have been saddened and shocked by the horrible events in New York and Washington D.C. on Tuesday, September 11.

Many Jamaicans now fear the future of their relatives who live and work in New York. Thank God that news came to us about at least two young Jamaican women who escaped the disaster. But we all await the identities of the thousands who died.

Several personalities have telephoned my home to find out about my son Lincoln who lives 12 blocks from the disaster site. Imagine my joy on Wednesday morning September 12 when a call came from Lincoln.

He has promised to let me know the identities of other Jamaicans.

The view by many including the Mayor of New York is that thousands have perished.

How very, very sad. We join with all in expressing our sincere sympathies and hope that the horrible planners will be found.

I am, etc.,

HECTOR WYNTER
