SPANISH TOWN Comprehensive kept up their impressive early season Manning Cup form with a 1-0 victory over Tivoli Gardens Comprehensive at the Spanish Town Prison Oval yesterday.

An own goal in the 90th minute was enough to hand the Spanish Town school all three points.

The win moved Spanish Town to nine points from three games in Group E, clear of Tivoli who have six from three.

Kingston Technical High (KTHS) moved to the top of Group F and are now on seven points after blanking Greater Portmore 3-0 at Clan Carthy.

Previous leaders Jonathan Grant remained on six points as their game against Campion, four points, at Hopefield Avenue had to be rescheduled after officials failed to turn up.

Meanwhile, substitutes impressed in the Greater Portmore, KTHS encounter as the home team took charge of an otherwise scrappy game.

Playing one man short with Dwayne Davis being sent off for two cautionable offences, newcomers Greater Portmore found the going tough. Try as they might, they just could not get the ball into the back of the net. Chances came and went but poor finishing let them down.

First half substitute Sheamar Williams was impressive throughout but it was Jermaine Gray (12th minute), Gavin Fuller (49th minute) and substitute Dwight Robinson (92nd minute) who managed to convert for KTHS on their well-dressed, inexperienced opponents.

KTHS coach Ossie Kerr was not pleased with his team's performance.

"It was not a good performance. I expected them to play much better than that. It wasn't any one area, it was a general fall-down in the side.

"It's good that they won although they did not stick to the game plan, but if they had followed instructions we would have won by a much bigger margin," he said.

Greater Portmore's coach Rev. Garfield McDonald was proud of his team despite their loss.

"The players did well and I'm satisfied with their performance. They attacked well and defended well but we definitely have a goalkeeping problem. The goalkeeper tried but he lacks the necessary experience and confidence. But I can't complain. It's our first time in the Manning Cup so we are just going to go back and work on what we have," he said.

In other matches yesterday, Camperdown improved their position to second in Group F after thrashing Kingston High 5-1.
