For pregnant women

IF YOU are pregnant, the Caribbean Food and Nutrition Institute (CFNI) says that it's not necessary to eat twice as much food as you normally eat. Just have extra servings of food per day, for example a glass of milk, extra serving of rice and peas. They also have other recommendations for pregnant women such as :

eat well-balanced meals containing a variety of foods

have meals regularly, three to five times daily

eat foods which are rich sources of iron, for example dried peas and beans, liver, sardines, and dark green leafy vegetables. Fruit or fruit juice with meals helps the iron from those foods to be more easily absorbed in the body.

consume foods that are good sources of calcium and
phosphorous, for example, milk, cheese, peas and beans for teeth and bone development.

eat foods that are rich sources of fibre, for example fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grain cereals, dried peas and beans to provide bulk in the diet and help prevent
constipation.

Visit the doctor, clinic, health centre by at least, the fourth month of pregnancy.

Take prescribed iron and vitamin supplement.
