In praise of a good column

THE EDITOR, Sir:

IN THE Gleaner publication of Tuesday September 18, 2001, there was an article written by Devon Dick that I wholeheartedly endorse. It was entitled "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust". I would ask Sir, that you use your influence to have the content of this article (especially the last two paragraphs) reproduced in newspapers in the United States.

Even a cat can look at a king, and it would be even more effective if the decision-makers of the United States could read the article. If the response of the international community did indeed echo these sentiments resoundingly, it would be comparable to each person within a darkened room lighting their own candle.

The room would be flooded with light. The response therefore could not be ignored. We can play a part!

I am etc.,
