THE EDITOR, Sir:
This is my response to your article "My perfect woman" (September 24). First of all I must say that I do not fit the criteria of your perfect woman, since I am smart, intelligent, and certainly not mute.
It's sad to tell you that you will find that perfect woman (since you want a dummy) when you walk into a store and purchase a Barbie doll. This way you will be guaranteed a woman who does not have a mind of her own, who will do whatever you tell her and, no matter what, will never talk back. Sad to say, you won't live the perfect life, but a dull, predictable, one-sided, boring one.
We all have fantasies of what our perfect mate will be like. While being as realistic as possible, here is what my perfect man should be:
My perfect man shall be extremely handsome, over six feet tall, not fat but not too skinny, should be strong and masculine, with nice legs, as I am not a lover of friendly knees. He should have a flat and hard stomach six-pack would be great as a punching bag (unnecessary baggage) is not acceptable.
My perfect man shall be educated to an acceptable level, be ambitious, charismatic, intelligent, honest, and will never even think of piercing his ears. He must be pleasant, have pretty teeth, and clean, neatly cut fingernails. He should always be himself and at no time pretend to be anything he's not so as to make an impression.
My perfect man shall respect me, respect himself and respect women on a whole. He must be sensitive and considerate towards me as his mate, as a woman, and towards women on a whole. He must be in touch with his feelings and emotions and, if placed under the appropriate circumstances, should be able to cry. I hate it when men act as if they are big, tough, and emotionless.
My perfect man shall not be jealous, and has no reason to be so, as long as he trusts me. He must also be trustworthy so that in time I may trust him. He should take the time to know me and love me for the person I am and not for my long hair or my slender body. My perfect man shall be in love with no other woman but me.
My perfect man shall be mature enough to handle me when I am moody, miserable, and distraught. He must be able to stand up to me and by me as a man, as I really don't have the patience to deal with a man who is too soft and wimpy for his own good.
My perfect man shall never lie to me as this would take away the perfection out of my perfect man. He must have a great sense of humour and must be able to keep a smile on my face. He must be open with me about everything, and me with him.
My perfect man shall be my best friend.
S. Saunders.
