God bless America

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Please allow me space to extend a hearty welcome to US Ambassador Mrs. Sue McCourt Cobb to this land of ours. Ambassador Cobb we welcome you with all our hearts and love unreservedly. Jamaicans of all races, colour and classes have always regarded your country as the greatest bastion of democracy, a system of government embraced by our country.

History has recorded that your predecessors have always done a tremendous job in cementing relations with our country. The names of US Ambassadors, indelibly woven in our fabric are Mr. Loren Laurence, Mr. Michael Sothiros, Mr. J. Gary Cooper, Mr. Stan McLelland.

Jamaica has, and is still benefiting from programmes by the USAID, the Peace Corps and numerous others. America's generosity to this country can never be underestimated. Ambassador Cobb, please convey to the American people our sorrow at recent happenings at the World Trade Center, claiming the lives of nationals from over 80 countries. Please take in the facts that your country as "The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave" will continue to drive your nation to success after success. God bless America.

I am, etc.,

LLOYD A.S. HENRY

Highgate,
