Caymanas races back on track

Davies

A LATE evening meeting yesterday between Dr. Omar Davies, Minister of Finance, and the executive of the Jamaica Racehorse Trainers' Association has paved the way for racing at Caymanas Park tomorrow and Monday (Heroes' Day).

According to a source close to yesterday's meeting at the Ministry of Finance an agreement was brokered and nominations will be taken at Caymanas Park this morning for both sponsored race meets.

Earlier in the day members of the JRTA refused to nominate horses for the two-day "Heroes' Racing Carnival", following the JRC's referral of a proposal from the executive of the JRTA to a technical review meeting scheduled for Wednesday, October 17 at the Winchester Road offices of the Racing Commission, Kingston.

The impasse was sparked by revised procedures in the Equine Drug Testing programme.
