Leader's weakness and a lack of accountability

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE RECENT reshuffle of the Cabinet highlights the major problems that is hindering the advancement of this country and its people. That is a lack of accountability.

People are not held accountable for failure to perform. The reshuffle also highlights the leader's weakness in making fair and impartial decisions regarding some of his Ministers.

If the reshuffle is an indication that some of the Ministers have failed to effectively carry out their assigned tasks, then what is necessary is to replaced them with those who have the necessary credentials to perform the respective tasks. Individuals should be held accountable for failure to perform.

Moving such persons to other areas of responsibility is not the answer, especially when it concern the governing of a country in crisis.

Until our leaders are held accountable for their deeds or misdeeds, then Jamaica, land we love, will continue in its misery, regardless of which party is in power. Maybe, just maybe, its time for a new Constitution.

I am etc.,
