THE SAM WISDOM-PRODUCED 'Back to Basics' kicks off another season of concerts under the theme "Restoring a nation under God." The concert series with an evangelistic thrust had inaugural beginnings in April 1999 and travelled to every parish and the Cayman Islands through some 20 concerts running for more than a year. These concerts have seen massive support as most town squares were jam packed with people coming to hear the good news of salvation through the medium of music and a short message.
The series was presented by The Love Singers and Birthright. Both these groups have given nearly 40 years to the gospel music fraternity and have both been involved in free outdoor concerts. Each event also includes other gospel ministers like Positive Influence, Mr. Goddy Goddy, Soul Survivors and over the period numerous groups have participated. The concerts have gotten tremendous endorsement from Love FM that does a live broadcast of each event and continues to give that support into the new season.
"Jamaica is our country," says organiser Sam Wisdom, and "I am sure that we would all like to see a change. Too many suicides, crime, so much frustration we must together make an effort to change attitudes and the behaviour of our fellow Jamaicans for the betterment of our nation. To do this we need the help of all concerned Jamaicans and others who live here and abroad."
The new season of Back to Basics concerts begins today, October 27th at 7 p.m. on the grounds of Holy Childhood High School. It will feature The Love Singers who celebrate 20 years of ministry this year and Birthright mass choir. The event is free and Love FM will broadcast live. The sponsors for this first event are Love FM, Sam Wisdom Music, Lox B Video, Marich Stage Lights Ltd. and others. There will be one each month until December 2002.
