Ceremony

The School of Dance, Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, will be honouring its founders Mrs. Sheila Barnett, Mrs. Barbara Requa and Mr Bert Rose at a special dedication ceremony today at the Dance Studio Theatre. The cocktail function and ceremony will feature a full entertainment package, including choreography by founders as well as presentations from members of the Dance School and other performing arts schools.

'Barnite'

The Jamaica Bar Association will be hosting 'Barnite,' a lyme/after-work party at the Liguanea Club tonight at 6. Admission is $200.

'The Certainty of the Advent'

The Meadowvale S.D.A. Church, located at 1-3 Chancery Street, Kingston 19, invites you to their crusade which is held under the theme 'The Certainty of the Advent'. The crusade began on October 5, 2001 and will end on November 4, 2001. The schedule is 7 p.m. on Fridays and Sundays and 9:15 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturdays.

Men's Conference 2001

The Errol Rattray Evangelitic Association (EREA) invites Christian men to 'Men's Conference 2001'. The conference will be begin today at 5 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m. The two-day conference will conclude the following day with a second session beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. There will be a special keynote address on 'How to live a moral life in an immoral world.' There will also be panel discussions and special workshops. Presenters will include Reverend Clinton Chisolm, Reverend Conrad Reid, Reverend Courtney Richards and others.

SATURDAY

'A Musical Evening'

The Girl Guides Association of Jamaica will be holding a fundraiser 'A Musical Evening' at its headquarters on 2 Waterloo Road, Kingston 10, tomorrow at 5 p.m. Performers will include Wolmer's Prep School Dancers and members of the Jamaica Musical Theatre Company. Admission is $300.

Flower Show

The St. Andrew Flower Arrangement and Garden Club presents its 'Annual Flower Show' at the Immaculate Conception High School tomorrow from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The show will be officially opened by Mrs Eleanor Jones. Music will be by Seretse Small, Jazz guitarist. The show continues on Sunday, November 4, 2001 from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. with a lecture and floral demonstration. Admission is $500.

'Sunshine and Parasol'

The Orchid Show 2001, 'Sunshine and Parasol', will be held at the Manchester Horticultural Society Show Grounds, Ward Avenue in Mandeville on Saturday, November 3, 2001 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and again on Sunday November 4, 2001 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Jonkanoo Lounge

'The Mature Alternative' at the Hilton's Jonkanoo Lounge, the new theme that kicked-off on Saturday, September 8, 2001, will continue this and every Saturday. Come and enjoy music from the 1980s only. The event begins at 8 p.m. and will continue until 'you say when.' Admission is $500.

Party Time

This and every Saturday Night, Friends on the Deck located at 51 Hope Rad, Kingston 10 will host their Saturday Night 'Party Time'.

SUNDAY

Sunday Brunch and Family Day

Food For the Poor will be hosting their 'Sunday Brunch and Family Day' on Sunday November 4, 2001 at the Sts. Peter and Paul Church Hall located at 120 Old Hope Road in Liguanea beginning at 11 a.m. Live entertainment will be provided and an appearance by the Royal Palm cast. Their will also be a health fair, football matches, and attraction for children. Admission is $450.

What Women Really Want

The Kingston Church of Christ will be hosting Women's Day 2001 - 'What Women Really Want' on Sunday November 4, 2001 at the Hilton Kingston Hotel at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Guest speaker will be Mrs. Carlyn Battle, Women's Ministry Leader, from the South Florida Church of Christ.

The After Hennessey Party

Delly Ranks will be hosting 'The After Hennessey Party' at the Asylum Nightclub on Sunday November 4, 2001. Musical by Nitro, True Love. One Blood, Renaissance and others. There will also be live performances from Tony Curtis, Lukie D, General B, Nitchie Kutchie, Bling Dawg, Harry Toddler and many more. Admission is $300.

Evolution 2002

The St. Jago School of Dance Society will be staging 'Evolution 2002' its annual concert of dance at the Ward Theatre on Sunday November 4, 2001. Performances will be rendered by Marlon Simms and Mark finn featured dancers with the NDTC as well as Tamara Noel.

Customer Appreciation Pt. 2

Image Press International presents 'Customer Appreciation Pt. 2' on Sunday November 4, 2001 at Brynes and Septimus Street, Jones Town P.O. Music by Tony Matterhorn, Fire Links, DJ Khaled, Emperor and Nu-Image. Featuring performances from Bounty Killer, Elephant Man, Bling Dawg, Wayne Marshall, Fergie Dads, LUST and Mr. Pepper. Admission buy out the bar.

Get in the Groove

Sunday nights will come alive with 'Get in the Groove' featuring music of the 60s, 70s and 80s at the Jonkanoo Lounge, Hilton Kingston Hotel, 77 Knutsford Boulevard. The new weekly theme party that begins at 7 p.m. and goes up until you say when. Admission is $300.

POOR PEOPLE GOVERNOR

The Reggae Studies Unit at the University of the West Indies, Mona presents a lecture, 'Poor People Governor,' by Bounty Killer today at 5:00 p.m. The venue is the Neville Hall Lecture Theatre (N1) in the Faculty of Arts and Education. The public is invited.

MENTO YARD 2001

The JCDC will be hosting 'Mento Yard 2001' at Wynter's Park, Kitson Town today at 10 a.m.

JAMERICAN FILM FEST

The Jamerican International Film and Music Festival, in association with Red Stripe, will host its 'Red Stripe Beach Bash' tonight beginning at 10 at the Aquasol Theme Park in Montego Bay. Featuring performances from Tony Rebel and VC.

AUTOGRAPH SIGNING

On Sunday, November 4, 2001, The Jamerican International Film and Music Festival will be hosting at the Wyndham Rose Hall's Cricket Club, a two hour autograph signing/children's question and answer with Disney's 'The Famous' Jett Jackson, Leigh Thompson-Young and Gordon Greene beginning at 11 a.m.

Afterwards from 1 - 6 p.m. there will be a 'Children's Side Bar' with screenings of The Famous Jett Jackson: The Movie, The Proud Family, Kirikoul and Rememer the Titans.

Then later, beginning at 10 p.m., Sheryl Lee Ralph, in association with Digicel, presents a fashion show dubbed 'Cinema inna Yard 2001' at the Caribbean Showplace in Ironshore. The show will feature celebrities and models strutting the runway in fashions from Tadashi as well as other fashion houses.

MEMORIES ARE MADE OF THIS

The series of 'Winter Concerts' by the Jamaica Musical Theatre Company (JMTC) returns this Sunday, November 4, 2001 with 'Memories are Made of This' at the Alhambra Inn, Mountain View Avenue beginning at 5:30 p.m. The production will include personalities such as Cecil Cooper, John McFarlene and Winston Davidson. Admission is $300 and $250 for students and senior citizens.

VINTAGE REUNION AND AWARDS PARTY

The Vintage Family will be hosting 'Vintage Reunion and Awards Party - Part 1' on Sunday November 4, 2001 at the Chasers Lounge, located at 29 Barbican Road, Kingston 6 beginning at 4 p.m. Music by Craig 'Young Lion' Ross, Louis Owens, Laurie Foster and Trevor Blake. There will be an award ceremony beginning at 9 p.m.

LINKS INNA YARD!

The Jamerican Film and Music Festival will be hosting the 'Links inna Yard!' celebrity golf tournament on the Wyndham Golf course tomorrow. Tee off is at 8 a.m.

Afterwards from 6 - 8 p.m. there will be the pre-Gala cocktails at the Wyndham. Then from 8 - 11 p.m. the Festival Awards Gala will be held at the Wyndham Ballroom hosted by the JTB. To close out the night, from 11:30 unwards there will be Midnight Movie Madness.

LIVING LEGENDS 2001

Heineken Startime's 'Living Legends 2001' series returns to Kingston's Mas Camp Village on Saturday, November 3, 2001 with 'The Blazing Fire'. The line-up will feature Bob Andy, Derrick Harriott, Derrick Morgan, Frankie Paul, Pat Kelly and the Techniques and Judi Emanuel, all backed by Lloyd Parks and We the People.

FIRST OF A THOUSAND NIGHTS

The Civic Affairs Committee of the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce will stage its annual Grand Charity Ball, the 'First of a Thousand Nights' at Le Meridien Pegasus hotel at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow. The black tie affair will feature the music of the Fabulous Five Band, while additional entertainment will be provided by the duo 'Just Us Two' and Maria Myrie in cabaret.

JAZZING UP WEDNESDAYS

Carlos Cafe will be 'Jazzing up Wednesdays' with Byard Lancaster, Desi Jones and his trio as well as other special guests as of Wednesday, November 7, 2001 beginning at 8:30 p.m. Admission is $400 pre-sold and $500 at the gate.
