HALLOWEEN AT Hedonism II in Negril was a movie production by the over 450 repeat guests who virtually took over the entertainment at the resort on Wednesday night.
Possibly the custom officers at the Sangster International Airport were the first ones to experience what guests at the 280-room Hedonistic property were up to.
As early as last weekend, large commercial-looking bags started arriving at the airport packed full of costumes, decorations, props and equipment slated for what these Halloween die-hards consider being their biggest production of the year.
Nine, 10 and even 11 suitcases per passenger were being pulled off the conveyor belts. The props they contained were the icing on the cake of the extraordinary presentation that guests treated their counterparts to at Hedonism II on 'Fright Night'.
"They pulled out all the stops to deliver the greatest show I have ever seen here," said a very happy Joseph Smith, general manager of the property. "They feel a deep sense of loyalty and commitment to the resort, specifically on its 20th anniversary, not to mention the fact that the family they have come to accept as their own, SuperClubs, is also celebrating its 25th anniversary."
Vying for one week, three and one night vacation packages, the 'unofficial owners' of Hedonism II presented a first-class, first-world presentation.
The overall winning team, 'Mind, Body, Spirit and Soul,' received a standing ovation and brought tears to the eyes of the audience with their excellent display of Americans standing tall in recent adversities, while joining hands with Jamaicans in the process. A Jamaican/Stars and Stripes flag stood guard while We Are the World belted from the speakers of a boom box. The celebrants paid tribute to reggae king Bob Marley and sent a strong message with words from the song Don't Worry, Be Happy.
'Happy Birthday Hedo II', which culminated with a king-sized birthday cake, took first place in the Most Entertaining segment. The Hedo Odyssey space crew, who brought their spacecraft, computers and aliens on-board the Hedonism ship, won for most outstanding performance.
A nun with a conscience, a woman confessing she had sex with many, many, men, two old men in a retirement Hedo Zone, the rebirth of God, his son, Venus, Mona Lisa and Spider woman were just a few of the great performers that made Halloween 2001 at Hedonism II special.
