Mail workers and the insane

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THIS LETTER is to voice my opinion on behalf of the St. Ann's Bay Post office staff. Some days ago I attended there and had to do my business in the most uncomfortable condition because of an insane man who stays on the building porch disturbing office staff and the public with his boisterous behaviour including indecent language.

Other members of the public were questioning the post office staff regarding their tolerance of this condition.

In my opinion it is impossible for those workers to perform properly under that condition.

The question was asked, if the post office staff could not ask the police for their help. This it is said had been done, but to no avail. Rightly so.. Where would the police put a man like that? Worse of all there are others who make that spot a meeting place at nights.

I also believe the number will continue to increase, and the government will have no alternative, but to find a place to house them.

Action needs to be taken before they burn down the building or something.

I am, etc..,

D. GORDON

Priory,

St. Ann
