A BAD LANDING yesterday caused attacking player Trudy-Ann Bascoe to break her left foot, forcing the postponement of the Jamaica National Open League netball match between her team, Braeton, and defending champions Waulgrovians at the Leila Robinson Courts.

After only two minutes and 37 seconds into the match and with the score tied 1-1, Bascoe jumped high to receive a pass but landed awkwardly on the injured leg.

She screamed out in pain and upon inspection, a bone protruded grotesquely from under the skin (down towards the ankle area) causing a nurse to conclude her foot was fractured.

The injured player was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital. It was later discovered she was not registered to play in the league and was listed among the starting seven in the wing attack position under the name of one of her teammates.

Meanwhile, 20 games were contested yesterday as the preliminary round continued.

Windalco, formerly Port Esquivel registered the second biggest win of the season when they shocked Hagley Park A 54-32. The first big win was Waulgrovians' 70-2 thrashing of Up Park Camp on November 24.

In other results at press time, Jetsetters B defeated Red Challenge 29-9, Dela Vega beat Up Park Camp A 39-7, Tivoli B beat Leiba Gardens B 23-10, Molynes B beat Progressive Strikers 25-13, Tivoli A cooled Jamaica Fire Brigade 46-6, Police A beat Friendship B 27-11, Jetsetters C beat returnees Alpha B 23-12 Jamalco beat UWI Revolution 46-6 while Omega A outplayed Dela Vega B 30-4.
