Buju Banton mesmerises at Stone Love's bash

BUJU BANTON, a.k.a. 'Gargamel', showed his true class at Stone Love's 29th anniversary show at Mas Camp, New Kingston on Saturday night. This was after Stone Love had presented a number of awards to leading dancehall events and artistes such as Elephant Man.

Buju Banton, wearing a black turban, grey pants and matching grey shirt, began with his usual anthem "Our Father, who art in Zion..." which had patrons flashing lighters. Then he moved on to a number of songs he had done on dub plates, such as Nah Live Too Right.

The 'Gargamel' then called on Galaxy P, who dished out Trilogy. The words came across strong. "Trilogy anytime dis reach over Italy. After dem no matta me". Buju Banton then called on Wayne Wonder, who thrilled the girls with old hits like Saddest Day Of My Life and also did a tribute to Stone Love's anniversary.

Zumjay, who is known for his tribute to Courtney Walsh, was popular with the crowd with a hardcore tune call Who Got The Girl on Jeremy Harding's popular 'Liquid' rhythm. He then moved into the 'ganja anthem', before exiting the stage.

Deejay Spice from Portmore wore a sexy outfit. She then launched into her trademark hardcore lyrics. This had the men calling for more and the women flashing their lighters.

'The Idiot', a stand-up comedian, left the stage before delivering his usual full dose of jokes, while Sean Paul did not get the opportunity to do his set.

The celebratory atmosphere of the event was destroyed, however, as gun shots fired by some patrons caused a stampede which prematurely ended the show.
