More of the same in the new year

THE EDITOR, Sir:

ONE way or another, the perpetrators of the New Year's massacre in the Red Hills area have sent Minister Peter Phillips, his national security apparatus, and the Government of the nation a grim message: Welcome to the New Year and more of the same.

"We press on," they seem to have said. You with your bad Reneto, your anti-crime squads and your tough talk of severe and unusual measures; and us with our shootin', killin', maimin', robbin' and burnin'. We are, you fool, locked in an embrace of death, waste and destruction. Until one of us wises up. You, Reneto and his mindless minions don't scare me none, hell no! Not me, mi bredda or de rest of mi bredren dem, born and unborn, the ones you haven't already slaughtered.

So who next yu goin' call: Ghost Busters? Or might you not somehow, Mr. P.J., Mas Eddie, come up with a more imaginative and workable idea?

The patient is getting worse, dying even, from the medicine you have been force-feeding down her throat, doctor. Yet you're saying, let's double the dosage.

I am etc,
