Terrorism on our doorstep!

THE EDITOR, Sir:

It seems to me that this is what the year 2002 is saying to the year 2001, in the area of crime and violence, that I can do better.

It is appalling to concede, that terrorism is right at our doorsteps in the most vicious manner. If the trend in the murder rate should continue then the score of 1,138 batted in 2001, will be easily overrun during this year.

Many have already been comparing and contrasting K.D. Knight and Peter Phillips in the Ministry of National Security.

Mr. Editor, it is my view and conviction, that the changing of baton was not the answer to quell this virulent evil, the answer would surely be hanging. I would not even go to the extreme to suggest the Islamic mode of punishment.

I was upset when I heard the announcement from the Attorney-General and the Minister of Justice that hanging is not likely to be carried out in the near future.

Therefore, am I to understand that the law which embraces this aspect of justice is null and void?

Although it appears that the crime and violence seem uncontrollable, let us have solace, that God is still in control.

What the country needs is complete repentance from the evil-doers and supporters.

I am, etc.,
