YOUNG Jamaica lefthander Wavell Hinds continue to push for a place on the West Indies squad to tour Pakistan when he starred on day two of the four-day West Indies trial match between Carl Hooper's XI and Ridley Jacobs' XI in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad yesterday.Hinds, who scored an undefeated 167 during Jamaica's final practice match at Sabina Park over a week ago, slammed 75 for Jacobs' XI, which was bowled out for 206 in reply to 157 made by Hooper's XI.
Offspinner Dave Mohammed was the most successful bowler for Hooper's XI with five for 62.
Hinds featured in a 98-run partnership for the second wicket with discarded West Indies opener Sherwin Campbell (46), who received a late call to the practice match after middle-order batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan was ruled out of the regional team's series against Pakistan. The Guyanese is suffering from lower back pains sustained last year.
Earlier, Hooper's XI resuming on their overnight score of 97 for five were finally all out for 157 with Neil McGarrell getting 30 with the bat.
West Indies paceman Mervyn Dillon, who took four wickets from 11 overs on the first day, finished with eight for 32.
