Cellphone nuisance

THE EDITOR, Sir:

A FEW Saturdays ago I attended a funeral at St. Thomas Aquinas Centre in Papine. Throughout the entire service, cellular phones were ringing, and many conversations taking place.

These are persons that one would think should know better, the same persons who would perhaps go to a three-hour film and have their phones off the entire time.

Fr. Haughton-James had to interrupt the prayers the 'Prayer of the Faithful', ask those speaking on their phones at that time to stop, if not out of respect for him, out of respect for the deceased. He then restarted the prayers.

Even after that, during the 'Final Commendation' there were two cellular conversations taking place behind me. I cannot be the only person who sees something wrong with this.

I am, etc.,

JUDITH ROSE-SPENCER (Dr.)

Kingston 6
